William Turnes is a former high-level cyclist and competitive skier who stopped his sports career from injury in the 1990s.
He abandons any idea of competition and concentrates on his professional career, which he succeeds in becoming the creator, with his wife Maryline of the International Ski School at La Toussuire.
For 18 years, he does not practice any other sport activity than that of ski instructor, during the winter season.
At 39, he suddenly decides to resume cycling, by personal challenge.
In 2013, he chained 9 wins and 7 first places in 2014.
In 2014, he becomes Champion of Savoy and Champion of France veteran FSGT.
He gets into the game and decides to train even harder to improve his record.
In 2015: he finished 1st of Time and Dromoise, Lozerienne, Morzine. 2nd of the Tour de l'Ain, the Marmotta, the Scott Cimes du Lac and 5th of the Etape du Tour. He also wins the LVO Rotor Challenge.
2016 remains its flagship year with an exceptional track record:
Winner of the DT Swiss Challenge "Best French cyclosportif", the FFC Label d'Or Trophy and bronze medal at the FFC French Championship.
He finished the Marmot in 3rd place (his favorite podium) and finished on the podium of 11 races.
He becomes ambassador for "La Maurienne, the largest cycling area in the world".
His news of 2018, besides competitions, is the release of his autobiographical book "Controlled Batard" for sale in the station.
In 2019, William decides to add another discipline: the Time Trial.
