Baroque appeared in Savoy in the middle of the 16th century, in reaction again Protestantism. The nave of Foncouverte church was rebuilt between 1675 and 1680. During the following years, painters and sculptors achieved baroque works, inspired by contemporary trends. Fontcouverte N.D. de la Salette chapel was rebuilt in 1742. Its ceiling is adorned with 24 paintings. Throughout high seasons, guided visits are regurlarly organised. |
On the first floor of the Tourist Office,
this free exhibition gives you the opportunity to discover numerous objects
dating from our village elders : old skis, wooden ploughs, tools,… You'll
be amazed by their ingenious designs.
This museum was made possible thanks to the A.V.E.C. (association for
cultural and environmental development) The A.V.E.C. also installed 2
viewpoint indicators (Tête de Bellard, Trois Croix) and organises cultural
events : concerts in Fontcouverte church, alpine floral exhibitions in
summer, …
